Affiliate Disclosure

1. What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a URL that includes a tracking parameter unique to ColdWallets.ca. When you click one and complete a qualifying purchase, the merchant pays us a small percentage of your order (or a fixed fee, depending on the program). The price you pay is exactly the samewhether you use our link or not — the commission comes out of the merchant's marketing budget, not out of your pocket.

2. Programs we participate in (or intend to)

ColdWallets.ca participates in — or is enrolled to participate in — the following affiliate programs. This list is updated when programs are added or removed:

• Ledger (via Impact Radius) — hardware wallets
• Trezor / SatoshiLabs — hardware wallets
• Tangem — NFC hardware wallets
• Shift Crypto — BitBox02 hardware wallets
• NGRAVE — premium hardware wallets
• Coinkite — Coldcard hardware wallets and metal seed backups
• Keystone, Cypherock, SafePal, SecuX, Ellipal, CoolWallet, BC Vault — additional hardware wallet brands
• Amazon.ca Associates — hardware wallets and accessories sold on Amazon Canada
• Best Buy Canada (via Rakuten Advertising) — hardware wallets
• Bitbuy, Newton, Coinsquare, Kraken, Ndax — Canadian cryptocurrency exchanges

We are not paid a salary, retainer, or sponsorship by any of these companies. We do not receive free product samples in exchange for favourable coverage. Every hardware wallet we review is purchased with our own money.

3. How affiliate revenue does — and does not — affect our content

What it changes: Which products we can afford to review. Every hardware wallet costs $80-$530 CAD. Affiliate revenue pays for the next device we buy, the domain and hosting, and the time to write a real review.

What it does not change: Our editorial verdict, star ratings, comparison rankings, or product recommendations. We publish negative reviews of products with generous affiliate programs and positive reviews of products with none. If a product we recommend drops off our list, we don't take it down quietly. We update the review with the reason, disclose the change prominently, and log it in our methodology page.

4. How you can tell if a link is affiliate

We follow these conventions site-wide:

• Every commercial outbound link has the HTML attribute rel="sponsored noopener", per Google's and the FTC's guidance.
• Buy buttons and price CTAs are visually distinct from editorial in-line links.
• Where a section relies primarily on affiliate links (e.g. a "Where to buy" block), we include a plain-language disclosure directly under it.
• This page — linked in the footer of every page on the Site — remains the canonical statement of our affiliate relationships.

5. Regulatory compliance

This disclosure is designed to comply with:

• The U.S. Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 ("Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising") — because many of our readers are in the U.S.
• The Canadian Competition Act and the Competition Bureau's Deceptive Marketing Practices Digest, which requires clear disclosure of material connections between reviewers and merchants.
• The Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), where any affiliate-driven email is sent only with express consent (see our Privacy Policy).
• Google Search's Product Reviews Update guidance on affiliate transparency.

6. Amazon-specific disclosure (Amazon Associates Program)

ColdWallets.ca is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.ca. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
